Children may need psychotherapy for various reasons. The most common causes are fears, depressions, behavioral problems, traumas, family conflicts, separations and divorces, as well as problems at school or in their social environment. These difficulties can affect the child's well-being and negatively influence their development.
My goal as a psychotherapist is to support the child in understanding and regulating their emotions, as well as recognizing and utilizing their resources and strengths. Through an individual therapy tailored to each child, they can learn to better cope with difficult situations and strengthen their self-perception and self-acceptance.
My work is based on a trusting relationship between the child and me as a therapist. I work with different methods adapted to the child's needs, such as play therapy, talk therapy, behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
I offer professional and individual psychotherapy for children and teenagers who are facing difficult life situations or have mental health problems. In therapy, I support them in overcoming their challenges and discovering their individual strengths.
Common psychological problems that can be treated in therapy for teenagers include:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety disorders (e.g. panic attacks, social anxiety)
-
Eating disorders (e.g. anorexia, bulimia)
-
Self-harming behavior (e.g. cutting)
-
Traumatic experiences (e.g. experiences of violence)
-
School problems (e.g. bullying, pressure to perform)
-
Lack of self-confidence and self-esteem
-
Body dissatisfaction and a negative body image
-
Difficulty respecting the boundaries of others
The duration of therapy depends on the individual needs and goals of the teenager. It is important for me to build a trusting relationship in a safe environment and work together on solutions.
